Spring

The program, selected by QVS Music Director Nym Cooke, includes choral works from Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Cornwall in southwestern England, Brittany in northwestern France, and Galicia in Spain—all regions known for their Celtic culture. Several pieces on the program were learned from the repertory of the Breton folk chorus Ensemble Choral du Bout du Monde, and are being performed for the first or almost the first time in the United States. From the gentle, dreamy Irish song “O Spirit Sweet of Summer-time” to the huge Breton piece “Galvadenn” (the title means “Appeal”) to the boisterous Cornish tune “Hal-an-Tow,” there is sure to be music here to please everyone.
